Learn to crochet linen stitch in the round and make a colorful crocheted hat!

Get ready for colder weather and explore color and texture with the Bistro Beanie! Whether you’re new to crochet and ready to work in the round for the first time, or if you’ve already made a few hats and want to explore a new stitch pattern, you’ll love this fun and easy class. Maria will guide you through reading a crochet pattern, then you’ll learn how to crochet in the round. The pattern uses crochet linen stitch, which looks particularly striking with hand-dyed yarn. We’ll look at some examples of “color pooling” and learn how to predict what a hand-dyed yarn might look like when crocheted. If you’ve been eyeing our lovely Color-of-the-Month skeins from Leading Men Fiber Arts, Babble & Stitch, and MadelineTosh, this is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself and make something beautiful!

This is a Beginner/Advanced Beginner crochet class. Students should be comfortable with chain and single crochet stitch. It’s a great class to take after taking Novice Crochet! Students will learn pattern reading, magic ring, crochet in the round, tips for working with hand-dyed yarn, and tips for counting stitches and getting the right fit.

Yarn: Students can purchase one skein of DK weight yarn in the shop. We recommend MadelineTosh Tosh DK, Leading Men Fiber Arts Dramaturg, or Babble & Stitch DK.

Pattern: Please purchase Bistro Beanie by Jenn Wolfe Kaiser on Ravelry prior to class.

Other Materials: US I (5.5mm) crochet hook or hook needed to get gauge, tapestry needle, scissors, locking stitch markers and pompom (optional). All materials are available for purchase in the shop.
