Join us on Thursday, December 11th, 5-9pm for an evening of fun, games, and gifting! This annual celebration of our Stitch Night community has been very popular in recent years. While we do the best we can to accommodate everyone, if this is the first time you’re coming to Stitch Night at Sister-Arts, we might respectfully suggest you join us the following week.

Here’s what to look forward to:

• Time to sit and stitch with your Stitch Night friends. Bring your project and get some knitting or crochet done as always!

• Festive snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring a beverage or treat to share, too!

• A chance to show off your snazziest sweaters, socks, and shawls. We want to see what you’ve made this year!

• Our famous Sister-Arts Holiday Gift Exchange. Rules are as follows:

  • Stop by the shop between now and December 11th and purchase a gift valued at $30… you’ll get 15% off. Gifts should be purchased from Sister-Arts and be something a knitter or crocheter would love to receive. We’ve got a running list to prevent duplicates and lots of ideas if you need help picking something out! Sorry, no handmade gifts, please.

  • Wrap your gift and bring it to the party for a high-energy Yankee swap game. Yes, there is stealing!

  • Participation in the gift exchange is optional, but everyone who participates will go home with a great gift.

Our Holiday Party will be held at Sister-Arts Studio… and yes, we will be open for business so you can get some late-night shopping done while you’re here!

This year, we are thrilled to welcome back local yarn company Babble & Stitch for an exclusive Yarn Crawl 2025 collection-- only at Sister-Arts!

Local artist and hand-dyer Veronica Sax has created five Babble & Stitch colorways inspired by our floral "Growing Community" theme. Each colorway will be available on four luxury bases, including fan favorite Super Chunky Glam, a unique new wrap-textured yarn, and two cashmere blends!

Veronica will be visiting us at the shop for an In-Person Trunk Show on Sunday, July 27, 12-5pm. Join us to chat yarn, flowers, animals, and more as you shop this beautiful collection!

The Babble & Stitch collection will be available starting on Saturday, July 26, and throughout the Yarn Crawl while supplies last.

Plied Yarn Co. yarns are coming to Sister-Arts Studio for an exclusive trunk show! We’re kicking things off with a sidewalk sale all day Saturday, July 26 from 11am – 6pm. Plied co-founder Ann Weaver will be joining us in person, bringing with her never-before-seen colors and tons of samples!

In the case of inclement weather, the trunk show will be moved indoors.

Our trunk show will feature Plied Yarns Co.'s amazingly unique North Ave. Twist and North Ave. Primaries yarns! These special fingering weight yarns are 2-ply woolen spun, 100% non-superwash wool, spun in New Hampshire and hand-dyed in Baltimore.

Wondering what these colorful marls look like when knit or crocheted? Our trunk show will feature over a dozen stunning hand-knit and crocheted samples to inspire you!

Beloved local bag-maker Windy City Knitter is coming to Sister-Arts Studio on Sunday, July 23 from Noon – 5pm for an exclusive in-person trunk show!

Windy City Knitter collaborates with local yarn shop owners to create handmade project bags in small batches. Hand-sewn using fabrics curated from around the world, each bag is unique yet functional and meant to reflect the owner's vision for their shop. We had so much fun working with designer and maker Lorri on choosing a wonderful selection of fabrics and designing the perfect bags exclusive to Sister-Arts!

Meet Lorri and come shop her beautiful handmade project totes, zipper bags, wristlet key fobs, and more.

The main event is Sunday and in-person only, however a selection of our favorite bags from Windy City Knitter will be available at Sister-Arts for the rest of the crawl.

Dye Mad Yarns is coming to Sister-Arts Studio on Saturday, July 22 from 11am – 6pm for an exclusive in-person trunk show!

Based out of Columbus, Ohio, Dye Mad Yarns combines a love of history, politics, quirks, and absurd-ism with a keen sense of color and dye yarns that highlight the fun and whimsy in their favorite inspirational subject: Ohio and the Midwest. Whether it’s landmarks, food, politics, experiences, or cryptids, Dye Mad is a love letter to the Midwest and its weirdness.

We are thrilled to be offering four exclusive new Dye Mad colorways, created in collaboration with Sister-Arts and inspired by our Yarn Crawl theme and the magnificent architecture of the Chicago Public Libraries. These limited edition colorways will be available throughout the crawl, on multiple bases, while supplies last.

Meet head dyer Ashley and have some good Midwestern fun browsing Dye Mad’s beautiful hand-dyed yarns, laser-etched wood and acrylic stitch markers, and other tools for knitters and crocheters.

The main event is Saturday and in-person only, however a selection of our favorite yarns and notions from Dye Mad Yarns will be available at Sister-Arts for the rest of the crawl.

Celebrate Knit In Public Day with a Starfall Bandana Cowl Knit-Along! This Advanced Beginner project is a great introduction to the magic of assigned pooling— a knitting technique where you follow the lead of specially hand-dyed yarn to create textured pops of color.

Knit-Along participants can look forward to a casual afternoon of starting their project together. Shara will guide you in picking out your yarn, reviewing the pattern, casting on, and doing the special star stitch.

Starfall uses Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere yarn from their Spring/Summer 2023 assigned pooling collection (Shara is using May). There is no cost to participate in the Knit-Along, but we strongly suggest participants purchase their yarn and/or other materials at Sister-Arts.

• Yarn: 1 skein of Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere assigned pooling yarn, or 400 yards of fingering weight dyed for assigned pooling with an accent color run of about 8"-10"

• Pattern: Purchase Starfall on Ravelry. We recommend bringing a printed copy.

• Tools & notions: US 5 - 20" circular needles with smooth joins to accommodate the wraps used to create the star stitch; 2 unique stitch markers (1 for beginning of round and 1 for center detail); tapestry needle

• Skills needed: Participants should know how to cast on, and be familiar with knitting in the round and yarn-overs

• Skills you’ll learn: Reverse stockinette rolled edge; Placing assigned pooling; Making a star stitch; Suspended bind off

Starfall Cowl Knit-Along will run through the end of June. Join us on Sundays from 1-5pm for outdoor knitting and Starfall help, weather permitting.

• Time to sit and stitch with friends. Bring your project and get some knitting or crochet done.

• Festive food and drinks. Feel free to bring a beverage or snack to share, too! (Paper goods and hand sanitizer will be provided.)

• A chance to show off your snazziest sweaters, socks, and shawls. We want to see what you’ve made this year!

• Our famous Sister-Arts Holiday Gift Exchange. Stop by the shop between now and December 8th and purchase a gift for $30. We’ll help you pick something out and give you 10% off. Wrap it and bring it to the party for a high-energy swap game! Participation in the gift exchange is optional, but everyone who participates will go home with a great gift.

Join Sister-Arts in participating in Malabrigo’s October 2022 Knit-Along, the Seeing Spots Vest!

Malabrigo’s latest Knit-Along starts on October 3rd. On Sunday, October 2nd, we’ll gather at Sister-Arts to have our own knit-along kickoff party! Join Maria in picking out colors and casting on. We’ll be here all afternoon to hang out and knit, so drop in any time and enjoy a festive afternoon of knitting. Then, we’ll be posting on Instagram and offering advice all month to keep you going through the KAL!

The Seeing Spots Vest is an adorable layering piece knit with Malabrigo Rios and a contrasting color of Rios Solidos. With very simple shaping and slipped-stitch polka dots, this vest is fun and easy enough for all levels.

Knit-Along Details: Visit the Malabrigo website for more information and register with Malabrigo to be eligible for prizes. Please note: to be considered for Malabrigo’s KAL prizes, Rios & Rios Solidos yarns must be used. All are welcome to join the Sister-Arts KAL with any yarn from our store.

Sister-Arts Studio invites all knitters and crocheters to join us for a Knit Night Pizza Party on Thursday, August 4 from 6-8 pm. Gather with us outside under the tent with your knitting and/or crochet project. Socialize, create, and enjoy a slice. The store will be open for late night Yarn Crawl shopping, too! BYOB.

This is a free event.

Leading Men Fiber Arts is coming to Sister-Arts Studio on Saturday, July 30 from 11am – 6pm for an exclusive in-person trunk show! Indie dyers Steve and Andy will be presenting an assortment of their amazing variegated and semi-solid colors hand dyed in Clinton, IL. With over a dozen yarn bases and a huge assortment of our favorite colors, their yarn, garment samples, and swag will fill our entire tent!

The main event is Saturday and in-person only, however a selection of our favorite fibers and colors from Leading Men Fiber Arts will be available at Sister-Arts for the rest of the crawl.

The theme of this year's Yarn Crawl is Chicago Blues. What better way to celebrate than to listen to a live blues show with our wonderful neighbors, world famous blues club Kingston Mines!

On Thursday, August 5 at 7pm, meet us at the shop and we'll walk down to Kingston Mines together and enjoy a show at our reserved seats. Details will be available soon!
