Keep your toes warm and your hook happy with crochet slippers!

Crochet slippers are warm, but to make the warmest slippers? Felt them! Felted slippers are trending in a big way right now— they’re stylish, sturdy, and super cozy. Felting happens when we use 100% non-superwash wool, then put our finished items in a washing machine and use agitation to shrink the wool in a controlled manner. In this class, we’ll be working with Kana Upton’s delightful classic “Warmest Wool Felted Slippers” pattern, chunky wool yarn, and a big hook for a fast and fun make!

Maria will guide you through the skills needed to make your oversized wool slippers. You’ll start by crocheting in the round to shape the toes, then you’ll switch to crocheting in rows to complete the footbed. We’ll finish with some easy seaming and talk through the felting process so that you’ll feel ready to go home and throw your new slippers in the washing machine!

Pattern includes small, medium, and large sizes, which are easily felted to your desired measurements. Want to add trendy stripes or a cute border? Maria will show you how!

Skills: This is a Beginner/Advanced Beginner crochet class. Students should be comfortable with single crochet stitch.

You will learn: Pattern reading, crocheting in the round, magic circle and striping (optional), seaming, felting.

Pattern: Purchase Warmest Wool Felted Slippers by Kana Upton on Ravelry.

Yarn: Arrive early or visit Sister-Arts in advance to pick out your yarn prior to the first class. You will need 190-240 yards of Super Bulky yarn in 100% wool or alpaca. Our favorite is Berroco Lanas Quick.

Other Materials: 7.0mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, scissors, locking stitch markers. Optional suede non-slip pads are available for purchase to add to your slippers after felting.
