Cashgora Edulis Shawl Kits by The Cashmere People
Give the gift of sustainable, ethical luxury… to a loved one or to yourself!
One of the most special yarns we have in our shop is Cashgora Fingering by The Cashmere People. This handspun, hand-dyed yarn is spun and dyed by a women's co-operative in Tajikistan. The fiber comes from cashgora goats, a special crossbreed of Russian angora goats and local Tajik cashmere goats. The cashgora goats are raised by farmers in the Pamir mountains, and brushed yearly to harvest their precious locks. The resulting yarn is durable, less prone to pilling than traditional cashmere, and drapes gorgeously.
So what to do with such precious yarn?
Caroline Dick designed Edulis, a crescent shaped shawl, especially for one skein of Cashgora Yarn! Our Edulis kits contain everything you need to knit or gift this fair-trade masterpiece.
Each kit contains:
One skein of Cashgora Fingering in your choice of color
One printed pattern plus a Ravelry download code for the Edulis Shawl
Two Katrinkles wooden goat stitch markers
An identification tag with photo and bio of the artisan who spun your yarn!
A simple cardboard box ready for gifting
Yarn Details:
Each 2-ply skein weighs 100 grams. Due to the nature of handspun yarns, your skein’s yardage will fall within the range of 360-469 yards. Read more about the cashgora goats and their fiber here.
