Dive into summer crochet with the lovely Flow Top!

One of the pleasures of warmer weather is crocheting and wearing lacy cotton tops. As spring rolls in, the Flow Top by Linda Skuja has been popping up all over our feeds and your wishlists. So let’s tackle this fun and interesting lacy tee together— you’ll learn some great new skills and have a beautiful new piece to wear all summer!

Join Maria in this Intermediate-level class and we’ll work our way through the Flow Top together, starting in the first class by making a gauge swatch. Through making this swatch, we’ll both practice the design’s special “wave” motif, and learn valuable information about each student’s gauge. Armed with this new knowledge, we’ll choose our sizes and dive in to the sweater, which is crocheted flat from side to side. In the second session, we’ll tackle the neckline and its special stitches. Finally, we’ll start the second piece and talk about seaming and finishing.

Skills needed: This is an intermediate class. Students should know the chain, single, half-double, and double crochet stitches. Experience working in the back loops will be helpful but not strictly necessary.

You will learn: Understanding gauge/reading a gauge swatch, reading a pattern, garment size selection and construction, and extra-tall crochet stitches including treble, double-treble, and variations.

Cost: $130.00 per student, class limit is 6 students.

Yarn: DK weight yarn in the yardage necessary for your size. This top works especially well in a cotton or cotton-blend yarn. We recommend Malabrigo Verano, Berroco Ultimate Pima, Malabrigo Susurro, and Noro Sonata… but you’ll find lots of options at Sister-Arts Studio!

Pattern: Please purchase Flow Top by Linda Skuja on Ravelry and bring a printed copy to class.

Other Materials: US H (5.0mm) crochet hook (or size needed to get gauge), tapestry needle, scissors, locking stitch markers.
