Take your crochet 3-D in this “next steps” class!

If you’ve learned single crochet and made a scarf or a few flat items, you’re ready to crochet in the round and make this handy basket! The Stash Basket by Emily Bolduan is a great introduction to crocheting in the round as well as reading a pattern. We’ll start at the bottom of the basket with an easy beginning circle, then learn to increase as we work our way out and up. In the second session, we’ll learn how to add handles for extra functionality (and cuteness!).

This chunky basket is crocheted with two strands of cotton held together, which works up quickly and easily. Students who choose to do a striped version will learn how to change colors and pull from both ends of a yarn ball. Or, for the easiest option, use KFI Eco Cotton which will do the striping for you! (This will result in a slightly smaller basket overall.)

This is a Beginner crochet class ideal for students who have taken Novice Crochet. Students should be comfortable with chain stitch and single crochet. Students will learn pattern reading, crochet in the round, changing colors, holding two yarns together, and more!

Pattern: Stash Basket by Emily Bolduan is a free pattern and copies will be provided in class.

Yarn: Students will need two colors of DK-weight cotton yarn. We recommend Malabrigo Verano or Juniper Moon Ultimate Pima. Alternately, students may use one or two balls of KFI Eco Cotton for a self-striping version. Come early to class and Maria will advise you on choosing your yarn!

Other Materials: 5mm crochet hook, locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors.
