Crochet yourself a new holiday tradition!

Woven heart ornaments are a Danish Christmas tradition that were first brought to our attention by Heidi & Pia Johannesen’s wonderful book Classic Christmas Crochet. Simple stitches combine with some clever folding to create a timeless holiday ornament. Join Maria in hooking up a heart in this class. We’ll talk pattern reading, gauge, working in the round, and more. Go for the traditional red and white, or choose any color combo that makes your heart sing!

This is an Advanced Beginner crochet class. Students should already know chain stitch and single crochet stitch. You will begin the hearts immediately in class after choosing your yarn and reviewing the pattern. Students will learn how to read a pattern, how to crochet in the round, how to achieve a dense gauge ideal for home decor and toys, and tips for your best-ever foundation chain stitches.

Cost: $90.00 per student, class limit is 6 students.

Yarn - Two contrasting colors of sport or DK weight yarn.

Pattern - Purchase Pleated Hearts pattern on Ravelry, or purchase the Classic Christmas Crochet book for the full collection of the Johannesens’ ornament patterns.

Materials: US D or F crochet hook (or size needed for gauge), tapestry needle, scissors, locking stitch markers.
