Learn to knit a cute vest to take you from summer into fall!

The perfect late summer knitted vest is here! Welcome the Vacation Vest, a seamless top down vest that features work-as-you-go edging. Once you get the swing of this fun and easy pattern, you won’t be able to stop at just one. Emma has already knit 3 and is planning a 4th! 

This is a great beginner pattern, suitable for those who have experience knitting, purling, and knitting 1 by 1 ribbing and are ready to make their first garment. If you’ve knit a raglan or circular yolk top or sweater before, this is a great way to try a new construction or sharpen your pattern reading abilities. 

Please have knit your gauge swatch flat for this pattern and bring it to the first class. The entire pattern is knit flat so there is no need to swatch in the round. We will measure our gauge swatches during the first class. 

Skills needed: This is an advanced-beginner class. Students should be comfortable with knitting, purling, and rib stitch. Please have complete a gauge swatch before the first class.

You will learn: Picking up stitches, casting on for the underarms, working a v-neck, and working knit-as-you-go edging and border stitches. Students will gain knowledge of patterns for tops knit flat, and we’ll also discuss different options for closure methods.

Cost: $130.00 per student, 6 student capacity*

Yarn: Any DK or light worsted weight yarn. Many options are available, but our suggestions include Juniper Moon Ultimate Pima or Malabrigo Verano for a cotton version like Park’s original design, or Malabrigo Rios for a lightweight wool version like Emma’s. Visit the shop before class to make your selection and come to class with a gauge swatch completed. We’ll discuss how to use the gauge swatch during the first class.

Materials: US 7 and US 8 circular needles in 32” length, stitch markers, tape measure, and darning needle. It’s not necessary to come to class with the hook-and-eye closures recommended by the pattern as you will review multiple options for closures and get advice on choosing and purchasing or creating your own closures during class.
