Cozy up with a wintry sweater that’s perfect for the holidays and beyond!

‘Tis the season to start your winter knits! Join Shara this November in knitting the Northbound Sweater by Tania Barley, a top down, seamless sweater with a snowflake design in its round yoke. Knit with just two colors, it’s a great choice for your first colorwork sweater. Shara will lead you through everything you need to know about knitting a colorwork yoke sweater, including using wrap & turn short rows for shaping!

This relaxed-fit unisex sweater is available in nine sizes, so you can find your ideal fit. Choose your main color and contrast color from our selection of worsted and aran weight wools, and make your gauge swatch before the first class. You’ll start by reviewing gauge and sizing, then jump right in!

Skills needed: This is an intermediate-level class. Students should know how to cast on, knit and purl in the round, and bind off.

You will learn: Top-down yoke sweater construction (including separating for sleeves), pattern reading, chart reading, colorwork knitting with two colors, increase stitches, and wrap & turn short rows.

Cost: $170.00 per student, 6 student capacity*

Yarn: Heavy worsted or aran weight wool yarn in Main Color and Contrast Color. Shara is using Kelbourne Woolens Lucky Tweed, but we also recommend Blue Sky Woolstok or Extra, Berroco Mercado or Ultra Alpaca, or Jody Long Andeamo Light, among others. Visit the shop before class to make your selection and come to class with a gauge swatch prepared.

Other Materials: US 6 - 16" and US 8 - 24" circular needles, and US 6 DPNs (or size required to get gauge), stitch markers, stitch holder for sleeves, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
