Mixtape Tee Intarsia Class
Mixtape Tee Intarsia Class
Learn to knit bold designs with intarsia, and make this adorably retro tee!
Have intarsia designs been playing on repeat in your mind (and in your Ravelry queue)? Intarsia is a colorwork technique that lets you knit big, bold images that don’t repeat across the whole piece, and you can learn this fun and trendy technique with Valerie in our Mixtape Tee class! The Mixtape Tee by Jesie Ostermiller is a playful top featuring that beautiful bit of classic technology, the cassette! The design provides a great space to play with colors and get creative. Knit from the bottom up in pieces (necessary for intarsia), this tee provides plenty of space to mix it up and create a personalized sweater to rock. If, like Valerie, you seem to collect little scrap balls of Malabrigo Rios after every project, this a great place to use that stash up!
In this four-session class we’ll start by exploring how to plan out and knit the garment you want, playing with colors and yarn. Then you’ll learn how to actually knit intarsia so it looks as fabulous as you, plus lessons in seaming pieced sweaters and making alterations to patterns.
We strongly recommend buying your yarn and knitting a swatch (40 stitches by 56 rows with size 3 needles) before the first class.
Skills: This is an intermediate-level class. Students should confidently know how to cast on and off, knit, and purl.
You will learn: Bottom-up pieced sweater construction, intarsia, choosing colors for effective colorwork, seaming pieced sweaters, and other sweater tips.
