Dazzle-up your wardrobe with the Eye Dazzler Sweater by Jennifer Berg!

If you would love to knit a colorwork sweater but aren’t sure where to start, this is the class for you! Join Donna and learn to knit the Eye Dazzler sweater, a fresh and exciting take on a classic knitwear technique: the colorwork yoke sweater. You’ll start at the neckline and increase as you go, adding in a color-changing second yarn to create a stunning wedge motif. This style of sweater means that you can try your piece on as you go, and there’s minimal seams to pick up or sew.

Designer Jennifer Berg created the Eye Dazzler Sweater as a tribute to the eye dazzler rugs that her people (Navajo) create. “Eye dazzler” refers to the optical illusions found in many rugs before the turn of the century. Donna’s version uses one cake of hand-dyed Freia Ombré Shaniko Worsted for a magical color-changing effect, alongside a solid background color. With several colorways of Freia Ombré and dozens of solids to choose from at Sister-Arts, you can create the dazzling sweater of your dreams.

Skills: This is an intermediate-level class. Students should know how to long-tail cast-on, knit in the round, increase stitches and bind-off.

You will learn: Top-down sweater construction, chart reading, colorwork knitting, short-row shaping and stretchy bind-off.

Cost: $120.00 per student, 6 student capacity*

Yarn: One cake of Freia Ombré Shaniko Superwash worsted weight (150 grams) and 3-5 skeins of worsted weight yarn in the quantity needed for your size. Visit the shop before class to make your selection and come to class with a gauge swatch prepared in your background color.

Other Materials: US 7 & US 8 - 16", 24 or 32” circular needles, and US 7 DPN’s or US 7 × 12” circulars for sleeves (or sizes required to get gauge), stitch markers, stitch holders for sleeves, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
