Starter Sweater Class
Starter Sweater Class
Start your sweater journey with the Starter Sweater— perfect first sweater for beginner knitters!
Sister-Arts Studio is excited to invite you to join us for a four-week beginner sweater construction class! If you’ve learned to knit, purl, and knit in the round, and are ready to move on from hats and scarves, the Starter Sweater by Park Williams is a great next step. In this class, we’ll show you how to read a sweater pattern, knit a circular yoke sweater and master techniques like long-tail cast on, make-1 increases, picking up stitches, and reading your knitting.
Guest instructor Emma is an accomplished test knitter with a whole host of sweater projects under her belt and a passion for helping newer knitters expand their skills! In addition to walking you through the skills needed to make the Starter Sweater, Emma will also introduce students to the different styles of sweater construction. This is a great jumping off point for those wanting to explore the world of garment construction.
Skills needed: This is an advanced-beginner class. Students should know how to knit and purl, and have experience knitting in the round (such as a hat).
You will learn: Understanding gauge/reading a gauge swatch, reading a pattern, circular yolk sweater construction, Make 1 right and Make 1 left increases, putting stitches on a holder, picking up stitches, binding off and general sweater construction.
