Don’t let seaming stop you— convert a pattern and knit a gorgeous long cardigan!

Did you fall in love with the Gaby Long Cardigan, the stunning cover design on the Lang Cloud Tweed book…only to despair when you saw that it was a pieced sweater with SO many seams? Despair not! Jami is here with this new class on a “all in one” version of the Gaby Cardigan with minimal seaming.

Jami has knit the Gaby Long Cardigan twice: first as written, and then again as a nearly seamless version. In this class, you’ll discuss why a seamless version may be preferable, then learn how to convert your pattern and get knitting. Students will knit the Gaby Long Cardigan together while making these changes to your pattern. You’ll leave with a wonderful new sweater… and lots of pattern-customizing skills you can use to convert almost any pieced pattern of your choice!

Skills: This is an Intermediate to Advanced class. Students should know how to knit and purl, knit in the round confidently, and know basic increases and decreases. Experience knitting hats and/or sweaters will be helpful.

You will learn: How to easily convert a pieced pattern to “done in one” with very little seaming, as well as when is it appropriate to change things within a pattern to make it work for you. You’ll also learn 3-needle bind off, and picking up stitches for sleeves and front band.

Yarn: Lang Cloud Tweed. Please come to Sister-Arts and purchase your yarn ahead of class and complete a gauge swatch before the first session.

Materials: US 10, 10.5, and 11 x 32” circular needles, or size necessary to obtain gauge; stitch markers and darning needle; pencil & paper and/or row counter.

Pattern: Purchase Gaby Long Cardigan on Ravelry or purchase a paper copy of Lang Punto 62 booklet in store at Sister-Arts.
